Recent advances in AI are transforming science, especially through the automation of AI research and scientific discovery. In parallel, discussions are growing around the future of peer review, publishing, and science itself in the age of AI.

In addition, toward the realization of Artificial General Intelligence, discussions on AI systems that autonomously conduct AI research, as well as broad and long-term evaluation and analysis of AI, are becoming increasingly important.

As a further intersection of these contexts, AI-related issues such as cybersecurity and biosecurity are already becoming topics of political debate. Concrete examples, such as Claude Mythos, have also begun to emerge, making it increasingly important to share the academic knowledge that can serve as a foundation for these discussions.

Our group aims to foster discussion and information sharing across the fields of AI Scientists and Metascience, while accelerating research and real-world implementation in Japan, as a Type 2 Special Interest Group of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence.
